Khelshala Athletes Shine at Chandigarh State Closed Championship 2024

At Khelshala, we believe in transforming lives through sports and education, and the recent Chandigarh State Closed Championship (27th–29th October 2024) was a glowing testament to this mission. Our young athletes, many of whom come from underprivileged backgrounds, displayed extraordinary grit, determination, and skill to make us proud. Their journey from humble beginnings to achieving accolades at a state level is truly inspiring.

Here are the stories of our incredible athletes:

1. Abhinav Kumar

  • Grade joined: 4th | Current grade: 11th
  • Background: Son of a housewife and an electrician.
  • Journey & Achievements: Abhinav joined Khelshala as a young boy with big dreams. Now a brilliant student in grade 11, he not only excels in squash but also gives back by coaching juniors at Khelshala. His passion for the game has led him to enroll in the prestigious WSC Coaching Course by PSA.
  • SRFI Ranking: 37 (BU-17)

2. Priyanshu Kumar

  • Grade joined: 4th | Current grade: 11th
  • Background: Son of a housewife and a laborer.
  • Journey & Achievements: Priyanshu’s sincerity and dedication have taken him far. While balancing his academics and training, he volunteers to coach juniors and is skilled in racket stringing and grip maintenance. His resilience and hard work are reflected in his achievements on and off the court.
  • SRFI Ranking: 71 (BU-19)

3. Anand Rao

  • Grade joined: 4th | Current grade: 11th
  • Background: Son of laborer parents.
  • Journey & Achievements: Anand’s intelligence and commitment to the sport make him a standout player. Besides being an excellent student, he contributes to Khelshala by maintaining equipment. Anand’s determination showcases the transformative power of opportunities provided through sports.
  • SRFI Ranking: 53 (BU-17)

4. Ankush

  • Grade joined: 3rd | Current grade: 8th
  • Background: Son of laborer parents and Anand’s younger brother.
  • Journey & Achievements: Ankush’s enthusiasm for squash and his commitment to learning have made him a promising young athlete. His journey from grade 3 to grade 8 is marked by consistent growth and determination.
  • SRFI Ranking: 123 (BU-13)

5. Aksha

  • Grade joined: 1st | Current grade: 7th
  • Background: Daughter of a housewife and a painter.
  • Journey & Achievements: Aksha’s love for reading and learning shines through her journey. Balancing her academics and squash training, she continues to make strides on and off the court, with a bright future ahead.
  • SRFI Ranking: 84 (GU-13)
